Sugar Skull

When it comes to making my niece’s gifts I have to admit I have a problem picking my project.  But when this sugar skull came across in one of my cross stitch magazines I knew it would be perfect for her (well…I hoped anyway)  She is not into the bright, loud colors so I chose a tan linen and 301 black floss for the design.  I tried to find the spookiest black fabric without actually picking out Halloween fabric (although she switched her birthday to Halloween from December).  It has a faint circular print to it but the smokiness of the background is what pulled me to it.  The four buttons in the corners are the splash of color.  Creepy Red Rose, Black Raven in a birdcage, etc.
